James Byrd is a current police officer serving over 24 years with a large Arizona department. His former assignments include a full time assignment as an advanced tactical training instructor specializing in active killer response, and as a Field Training Sergeant.

He is also a combat veteran having served in Operation Iraqi Freedom where he conducted convoy operations in Baghdad, Ramadi, and Abu Ghraib.
